- Account Information: Your name, email address, phone number, and a profile selfie for verification.
- Location Data: Real-time and historical location data to facilitate rides, optimize routes, and ensure safety.
- Trip Details: Pickup and destination points, routes taken, and fare information for your trip history.
- Communication: In-app messages and call data (without content) to facilitate communication between riders and drivers.
- Device Information: Information about your device to improve our service and for security purposes.
- Safety Recordings: In-trip audio may be recorded, particularly at night, for safety and incident investigation.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the DashRides service.
- To personalize your experience.
- To process payments and calculate fares.
- To enhance safety and security, including fraud prevention and incident response.
- To communicate with you about your account, trips, and promotions.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information under the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Users: We share your name and location with drivers to facilitate your ride.
- For Legal Reasons: We are obligated to comply with South African law. In line with the POPI Act, we will only disclose driver details or trip recordings to law enforcement (SAPS) upon receipt of a formal and valid court request or subpoena. Your privacy is paramount, and we do not provide data without due legal process.
- Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party partners (e.g., payment processors, cloud hosting) who are contractually obligated to protect your data.
Your Rights and Choices
